Emmerdale star Sam Hall, who plays Samson Dingle, has reportedly been axed from the ITV soap after 15 years on the show, with his character set to be killed off

Emmerdale actor Sam Hall, who has played the role of Samson Dingle for the past 15 years, has reportedly been axed from the ITV soap.

The young star started playing Samson Dingle when he was just five and was recently informed that his on-screen character will be written off in an upcoming episode, reports the Mirror.

James Hooton, who plays his screen father Sam Dingle, was one of many colleagues reportedly vexed upon hearing about the forthcoming exit.

An insider spoke to The Sun, revealing: “Sam had a meeting with bosses earlier this month where they broke the news. He has been left devastated. He’s grown up with his on-screen Dingle clan and they are all very protective of him.”

The source added: “Some of the cast even went to talk to bosses about their decision. As news of his axing through the building there were quite a lot of angry Dingles. The fact that they are planning on killing him off means there’ll be no way back for him either. He’s absolutely gutted.”

Throughout the years, Sam has dealt with several challenging storylines, including becoming a young father following a fleeting romance. On managing such pivotal decisions, he expressed: “I’ve enjoyed every minute. I love being a Dingle.”

However, it appears as though there’s been a significant change looming for some time now

Earlier this month, news broke that the cast is preparing to be “totally rocked” by three intense storylines set to keep viewers glued to their screens. Among these planned narratives are harrowing topics such as domestic violence and cancer diagnosis.

In addition, the shows producer Laura Shaw hinted at an impending accident that would ensnare two families and put one character’s life in danger – potentially Samson’s. Laura disclosed: “We’ll see someone in some really serious medical jeopardy whether they live or die, we’ll have to see. But the ripples and repercussions from that accident will be very long-lasting and life-changing.”

Elsewhere in the Dales, Belle Dingle, under the abusive and controlling behaviour of her husband Tom King (played by James Chase), finds her situation worsening in an upcoming episode. Interestingly, this particular installment takes “a step away from the usual Emmerdale format.”

Emmerdale actress Laura Norton has spoken about an upcoming storyline involving her character Kerry Wyatt and her partner Dan Spencer, who will be exploring the issue of domestic abuse. The storyline has been developed in collaboration with the domestic abuse charity Refuge to ensure accurate portrayal.

In a statement, Norton said: “It’s a dinner party mainly focussing on Tom and Belle and Marlon and Rhona and we’ll see what’s going on in their relationship and how what you see in public is not necessarily what you see behind closed doors.”
