Sally Dexter left Emmerdale as part of a major storyline

An Emmerdale star has opened up about being ‘upset’ by her exit from the soap.

Sally Dexter, 63, played Faith Dingle in the ITV soap. In emotional scenes, back in 2022, Emmerdale viewers saw Faith die in her son Cain Dingle’s arms.

The character took her own life as her condition deteriorated following a terminal cancer diagnosis. Sally, who is currently appearing in play The Children, took time away from rehearsals to talk to the Daily Express.

“I was upset by it,” Sally said but said her storyline was important. “That’s the part of the soap world – my knowledge is of Emmerdale and I know the others are very similar – they really care about their audience

“They really care about the sorts of things they’re putting across to them and there was a lot of thought gone into this a lot of research and it was very, very heartfelt. So I’m glad that it moved people in the same way that it moved all of us.”
