This year’s Strictly Come Dancing finalist of 2019 has focused on the family farm in the Peak District, which has been featured in various TV documentaries. However, Kelvin, who recently appeared in the BBC’s Father Brown, still considers acting a profession. Kelvin told The Times: “People ask whether I’ve stopped performing. It’s not true; it’s my task. However, moving to the United States gave me an energy I had not felt. It was an emotional moment that I was in the front row during the Olivier Awards, having performed in the show Jack Absolute Flies Once again in The National Theatre in London, in a room with so many amazing actors.”

The actor continued: “The culmination of all the acting dreams I’d had as a kid. The next morning, I was back up here shovelling s ***. But as I watched the clouds shoot across that lovely Peak District sky, I knew I’d found my home.”

Kelvin, a former Emmerdale actor, has opened up about the misconceptions people formed regarding him while in the show. Kelvin said: “Being on a show such as Emmerdale is that the viewers cancan already have preconceived notions about the person you are. It’s considered a celebrity, and you lead an incredible life. In the eyes of (Kelvin’s spouse) Liz, I was the same Kelvin she’d known for years.”

“We still knew the same people. A grounded reality existed outside of Emmerdale, which immediately made me feel comfortable with her.”
