Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt on which story he wishes had been different actor Dominic Brunt has spoken about the storyline that he wishes the soap did differently.

The actor has been playing Paddy Kirk since 1997, and the character has had his fair share of romantic partners over the years. Lisa Riley’s Mandy Dingle is probably the most famous, which is why Brunt expected Vinny to be revealed as their son when Mandy returned a few years back.

“I thought Vinny was definitely going to be my son! Paddy always wanted to be a father and then Vinny came along and he was maybe my son — I loved that!” he told Inside Soap.

“I was a bit disappointed when the story went somewhere else when it was sat right there!

“But I never go upstairs and ask to know the storylines because I like reading it in the scripts.”

Of course, Paddy and Mandy reunited last year, and Brunt is very happy that it has happened, although he did expect it to be more of a slower-burn storyline.

“Lisa and I actually thought it would be slower than that. We thought it was going to be a year of will-they-wont-they and glances. It was inevitable and I’m very happy because Lisa and I are massively fond of each other.

“Even when she left Emmerdale we were still friends, we stayed in contact, went for meals. She’s a friend of the family.”

Paddy and Many might be in for a bit of a rough time next week, as he will confess that he recently shared a kiss with his ex Chas.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
