Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has celebrated his daughter Marnie for her Hollyoaks debut.

Fletcher, known for playing Andy Sugden on Emmerdale, has taken to Instagram to praise his daughter who recently joined Hollyoaks as Lexi Roscoe.

The actor and farmer posted a clip of Marnie in the role, brimming with pride as he described chaperoning her on set.

“I was her ‘chaperone’ and I can’t begin to tell you the emotions I felt standing there watching,” he wrote in the caption.

“To be standing behind the camera, watching my 7 year old daughter act for the first time in front of the camera, brought so many feelings back to when I first started acting and it felt so surreal to be there witnessing it all again but this time, as a parent,” he continued.

“My heart was beaming with pride and it was genuinely one of the very few times I’ve felt completely fulfilled. To see your child find their passion and chase that feeling is one of the most beautiful and inspiring things to behold. What a moment for me and more importantly, what a moment for her. Well done darling.”

To conclude his message, Fletcher also joked that Marnie’s acting career may be going better than his, writing: “The same week she got that casting, I didn’t get two! Typical,” adding a laugh emoji.

Fletcher starred on Emmerdale between 1996 and 2016. Amongst his more recent roles, he appeared on The Teacher and an episode of Father Brown.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
