Danny Cunningham will soon be seen in Coronation Street

A former Emmerdale villain is set to be seen in rival soap Coronation Street.

We all know soapland can be a small place with acting stars switching between programmes. Emmerdale fans might remember Danny Cunningham had a brief role in the show – he portrayed Connor Cooper.

The 54-year-old actor has been cast in the guest role of Denny. The character will be the estranged dad of twins Paul and Gemma.

An insider told The Sun : “Fans will be surprised to see a familiar face popping up on the cobbles. It remains to be seen if his character is as villainous as Emmerdale’s Connor, who blackmailed Paul, but Danny will join the ITV soap for a guest role in the coming weeks.

It’s not his first time in Weatherfield though – he played Jimmy Skyes, the brother of Linda Baldwin, in the early 00s.”

Viewers might also remember Danny for his roles in the hit 90s drama Solider Solider, starring as, Fus Andy Butcher. He has also had featured roles in Holby City, Waterloo Road and Last Tango in Halifax.

Danny played Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder in the Manchester music film 24 Hour Party People alongside Steve Cogan back in 2002. Fans might also recognise him from BBC comedy series I’m Alan Partridge.
