Darren accuses Lucas after coming to the wrong conclusion.
Note: This story discusses topics including sibling sexual abuse and rape.
Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday’s episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn’t air on E4 until Monday.
Hollyoaks has seen Lucas Hay falsely accused by Darren Osborne in daughter Frankie’s ongoing issue-based storyline.
As viewers are aware, the soap is currently exploring the topic of sibling sexual abuse between Frankie and her twin brother, with the teenager too frightened to speak out. The story also took a harrowing turn this week after JJ raped her.
In tonight’s (April 19) first-look episode, Darren accused Lucas of assaulting his daughter after discovering an emergency contraception packet and coming to the wrong conclusion.
The episode opened with Darren revealing his plans to undergo a vasectomy after Frankie’s comments about his parenting skills, however, Nancy was ultimately able to talk him out of it by saying the best thing he could do to support Frankie was be there for her.
“You still have time to be there for her,” Nancy assured him. “You can step up for Frankie.”
However Darren’s determination to look after his daughter took a dark turn when he discovered an empty packet of emergency contraception hidden in her wardrobe.
At the school, Frankie attended a meeting with Nancy and Suzanne regarding how to support her after the discovery that she had been self-harming.
Darren arrived at the meeting late, pretending to have been waylaid by work, but when the pair were alone he confronted her about the emergency contraception packet.
He pressed the topic with Frankie further once they were home, becoming concerned after seeing Frankie break down in tears and refuse to tell him whether or not she’d had consensual sex. “Whoever it is, I just need a name,” he said.
Out in the village, a furious Darren confronted Lucas after wrongly assuming that he had pressured Frankie into having sex.
Darren had to be restrained by Freddie as he threatened Lucas to stay away from his daughter, as a shocked JJ watched on in the background. Will the truth about what happened come out?
