EastEnders has aired a shocking split for Phil and Kat Mitchell.

Lies were unearthed in Thursday’s (January 18) episode, as part of a tumultuous week where the family laid Aunt Sal to rest and were nearly torn apart by Sam Mitchell’s latest exit from Walford.

Before she departed the Square, Sam dropped a bombshell that destroyed her brother’s marriage by revealing to the entire pub that Phil had cheated on Kat.

Phil tried to deny the allegations, yet Kat realised Sam was telling the truth because she could see the desperation in Phil’s eyes.

Kat sought solace from former husband Alfie Moon, and while the pair shared a charged moment, Alfie admitted to his ex-wife that he knew Phil had cheated.

This left Kat even more distraught as she returned to No 55 to pack her bags before moving back in with the rest of the Slater family at No 31.

Stacey Slater tried to convince Kat that she should give Phil another chance, but Kat was certain that her marriage was over.

Kat returned to No 55 to tell the boys they’d need to pack their bags immediately, only for Phil to intervene.

“There’s nothing to talk about,” Kat told him. “You betrayed my trust. That’s that. I’ll never forgive you.”

Later in the episode, there was a sad scene of Kat and her boys crammed in on the sofa at No 31 looking miserable while Phil sat alone at his kitchen table.

With the soap recently confirming a new romance in the works for Kat, is it really over for her and Phil?

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
