Coronation Street actor Tristan Gemmill has gone from the cobbles to The Crown so who does he play?
Coronation Street’s Tristan Gemmill unexpectedly pops up in the final ever season of The Crown which came out earlier this month.
Creator Peter Morgan’s royal drama is no more with part two of series six spelling the end of Netflix’s time delving into the history of the British monarchy.
The main cast has famously changed every two seasons in a bid to keep up with each chapter of the royals’ lives with some new faces also added in smaller roles.
One in particular which may have caught the eyes of subscribers is that of Coronation Street actor Tristan Gemill.
Who does Coronation Street star Tristan Gemmill play in The Crown?
Coronation Street’s Tristan Gemmill was behind Robert Preston, Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) chef ex-husband who briefly owned the Bistro, for four years before his exit in 2019.
He has now cropped up in The Crown season six in a short but important scene for Princess Margaret (Lesley Manville).

Season six, episode eight, Ritz, sees the gradual deterioration of the princess’ health as she suffers three strokes.
It is after the first stroke that Dr Richard Thompson (Tristan Gemmill) appears to give her the prognosis as well as a reality check.
Princess Margaret is seen putting on lipstick in her hospital bed as Dr Thompson explains the stroke was “relatively mild” and would just need “an aspirin a day to thin the blood”.
Much to her dismay, he continues: “But these alone will not be enough ma’am to prevent the risk of a second, more serious stroke.”

“You will need to look more closely at your lifestyle and make one or two modifications.”
Princess Margaret then explains to her sister Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) that she was told to cut out drinking and smoking which, of course, didn’t last very long.
She passed away on February 9, 2002, and was cremated, her ashes scattered in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
As Corrie fans will remember, Gemmill’s time on the cobbles came to a heartbreaking end.
Robert had been living a double life, he was in a loving relationship with Michelle O’Connor (Kym Marsh) but during their brief split, he slept with Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn) and got her pregnant.
Michelle didn’t find out the truth until his son was born and was ready to meet him for the first time at the Rovers Return.ut as he was about to walk through the doors, teddy bear in hand, he was fatally shot through the pub door’s glass panel.
He was accidentally killed by businessman Derek Milligan (Craige Els) who found himself an enemy in Gary Windass (Mikey North) over money but sadly, it was Robert who paid the price.
