She returns following surgery.
Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale will air powerful new scenes for Chas Dingle in her ongoing breast cancer storyline.
Chas was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, with this week’s scenes seeing the character undergo a double mastectomy.
Next week’s scenes will see Chas receive support at The Woolpack after wearing prostheses, with Charity later urging her that she doesn’t need them.
Tempers flare, however, after Kerry makes an insensitive comment on the matter, with Chas resolving that she doesn’t want to be defined by her situation.
Chas later vows to face her scars, with Charity agreeing to offer her support. After lifting up her top, an emotional Chas comes to terms with her new reality.
As a result of her health issues, Chas’ romance with doctor Liam Cavanagh was put on hold as she took the time to recover, but actor Lucy Pargeter recently revealed that there could be hope for the pair.
“Chas/Ella [Forster]/Liam – I don’t know where it’s going to go,” she said. “It’s certainly interesting because Liam was the first one to find the lump in her breast. There was that kind of connection – I think she’s just feeling quite vulnerable.
“[She’s] wondering where she’s going to go relationship-wise now that she’s in the situation that she’s in. I think she’s probably going back to what she knows because of the fear of going forward with somebody new.
“I think Liam and Chas make an interesting couple. When Paddy was with Chas, a lot of people said that they weren’t a good match. I think Liam’s quite different to Chas but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. They could be a good match.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
