The couple were joined by ice dancers Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale has aired a festive marriage proposal for Belle Dingle and Tom King.
This is the second proposal for the pair in recent months, after Belle initially turned down Tom’s request for her hand in marriage in the autumn.
In that instance, Tom reacted in a disturbing fashion by pushing Belle down and later joked about her subsequent injury in front of her clueless family at the Woolpack.
In Thursday’s (December 28) hour-long episode, Belle enlisted Leyla’s help to bring a blindfolded Tom to an ice rink — where he was surprised by Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Belle soon joined the ice dancing legends on the rink and dropped to one knee as she asked for Tom to marry her.
“Tom King, will you marry me?” she asked him.
The show cut away for an ad break, and when it returned, Tom told Belle this was “the best moment” of his entire life.
“Of course, I’ll marry you,” he assured her.
Belle was slightly off-put that Paddy and Leyla had forgot to film the proposal, though Tom was quick to put her at ease.
“It doesn’t matter. It’s not like I’ll ever forget it. This was perfect — you were perfect,” Tom told his bride-to-be.
It was then revealed that Leyla was the one who helped Belle get Torvill and Dean to come to the Dales, seeing as they owed her a “favour” after a wild event she’d planned in Mykonos.
The scene had an in-joke since Leyla actress Roxy Shahidi will soon be competing for Torvill and Dean on Dancing on Ice in early 2024.
Back at the Woolpack, Tom once again showed some controlling behaviour when he wanted to cut short their engagement celebration.
“I like it when it’s just the two of us,” he told Belle.
Belle ultimately convinced Tom to stay for a drink with his uncle Jimmy, though he wasn’t thrilled about having to do it.
