Christmas brought with it tragedy and bloodshed, but more lives are on the line as Emmerdale crashes – perhaps literally – into 2024.
As Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) continues to reel in the aftermath of Harry/Damon’s death, thoughts of other villagers turn to partying and putting the difficult year behind them.
For the teens in particular, they want to let their hair down, but things soon end up going way too far.
As they joy-ride and speed up on the roads, only disaster can be round the corner.
Elsewhere, one New Year resolution is for Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) to come clean about their relationship.
There are, shall we say, mixed reactions…
New Year’s Day
As the adults are occupied at the B&B party Cathy, Angelica and Heath take a joyride in Wendy’s car.
At the party, Nicola wants the kids to help serve and obedient Jimmy is sent to find them. Meanwhile, in the car, Angelica and Heath are flirting and they encourage Cathy to speed up.
Jimmy still hasn’t tracked them down and Bob is alarmed that Wendy’s car is missing.
Before long, Bob has extracted the truth from April about the kids taking the car, and rushes to follow them to Hotten.
Meanwhile Nicola is frustrated to be pulled away from the Chairman, to hear from Brenda the kids have gone joyriding.
Heath’s impatience at Cathy’s driving speed builds. A near miss with another car doesn’t affect Cathy’s resoluteness as she puts her foot down….
Gus is absent and Rhona and Marlon are looking after Ivy.
