EastEnders has confirmed the timeslot for its highly-anticipated Christmas Day episode.
The Walford soap will air an hour-long special on BBC One on Monday, December 25, as viewers finally get answers over the mysterious death involving ‘The Six’.
Final schedules released today (December 5) have confirmed that EastEnders will take the 9.45pm slot on BBC One on Christmas Day.
It will be the only soap airing an hour-long special, as Coronation Street and Emmerdale are both screening single 30-minute editions on Christmas Day this year.
EastEnders has been building up to its Christmas special since February this year, when a specially-filmed flashforward scene showcased a mysterious death.
‘The Six’ – Stacey Slater, Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar, Sharon Watts, Linda Carter and Denise Fox – were seen standing over the dead body of a male character.
The twist takes place on the day of Sharon’s wedding to Keanu Taylor.
All six women have been taking centre stage in storylines which could lead to the death in question, but the identity of the victim remains a closely-guarded secret.
EastEnders’ executive producer Chris Clenshaw recently told 4yardsmedia: “I think at the moment [the victim] really could be any of them, couldn’t it? It could be any man in Walford.
“But as we head towards Christmas, it will become apparent and it will become very clear who the potential body is – not who the body actually is, but who the potential ones we’re looking at are and the ones that it could be.
“It will be narrowed down – it will be clear who it could be from a small number of people. At the moment it literally could be anyone from Winston to Grant, let’s say, but it will become more apparent on who the potential, or the potential bodies are.”
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
